Family Campgrounds

Anthony Chabot Regional Park

The park is located in the hills four miles north of Castro Valley or six miles east of Oakland on Redwood Road. Year-round camping is available in a eucalyptus grove overlooking Lake Chabot. Spacious sites, disabled accessible sites and facilities, RV hookup sites, hot showers, and lawns are provided. All campsites have a 10-foot picnic table and a fire ring/barbeque. Campers may hike to the lake for fishing. Daily Fishing Access Permits and firewood are sold at the campground. The campground's location is convenient for out-of-towners visiting San Francisco, and for East Bay residents looking for a recreation respite near home. Del Valle Regional Park

The park is located in the oak covered hills six miles south of Livermore. The park surrounds a five-mile-long lake which offers boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, and nature observation opportunities year round. Del Valle is also the eastern entry for backpacking in the Ohlone Regional Wilderness. The Del Valle Family Campground has 129 drive-in campsites, and 21 partial hook-up sites with connections for sewer and water. All 150 sites have one 10-foot picnic table and a fire ring/barbeque. There are restrooms with flush toilets and warm water showers located around the campground. There is a camp store and a sewage dump station at the campground entrance. In addition, there are four primitive equestrian campsites located one-tenth of a mile beyond the family campground entrance. The equestrian sites share several portable picnic tables, a group barbeque, and a chemical toilet at the site. To reserve a site online, click here. Sunol Regional Wilderness

The park is located about seven miles south of the town of Sunol at the end of Geary Road off Calaveras Road in southern Alameda County. The park encompasses the valley and hills around Alameda Creek and offers a Visitor Center, nature programs, and miles of hiking and riding trails. Sunol Regional Wilderness is also one of the starting points for backpacking trips into the Ohlone Wilderness. The family campground has four primitive walk-in campsites located 25 to 50 yards from the parking area. The chemical toilets are located near the parking lot. No drinking water, food, firewood, or ice is available at the park. The nearest services are in the town of Sunol. Park gates are locked after dark so please make plans to arrive during the daylight hours. Call 925-862-2244 to confirm exactly what time the gates will be locked. Backpacking Fee: $5 per night per person

Note: Ohlone Wilderness Trail Permit is required for each person to hike beyond Mission Peak Regional Preserve Boundary into S.F. Water District Land along the Ohlone Wilderness Trail. Permits may be purchased at the Sunol Visitor Center, at Del Valle Regional Park or Coyote Hills Regional Park.
