General Facility Information

For general information about the Fern Cottage call the Facility Office at 510-841-1244. Information can be mailed to Facility Office at the Brazilian Room, Tilden Park, Berkeley, CA 94708. This facility is wheelchair accessible.

Open House

The Fern Cottage can be viewed at 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays (not holidays). Call the Facilities Office to confirm viewing for any other time or day. Back to top

Catering

You may hire a caterer from the Approved list or choose the non-catered option. If you choose the non-catered option you may not use an outside caterer or have any hired staff. Your unpaid volunteers will be required to attend an orientation. You will pay an additional fee for the ability to use the non-catered option.

Reservations

Fern Cottage will require a contract fee of $100 to reserve a specific date. If this date is cancelled more than 120 days in advance, $50 shall be refundable and the remaining $50 forfeited. No tentative holds without an initial payment will be processed. Contracts for events under 120 days require payment in full. Facility Reservations may be contacted at (888) 327-2757 Option 2 for Reservations, then Option 2 for facilities.

All initial inquires, holds, bookings and payments are handled through the East Bay Regional Park District, Attention: Facility Reservations at PO Box 5381, Oakland, CA 94605-0381. Call 1-888-EBPARKS (1-888-327-2757), option 2.

To Confirm a Reservation

There are two steps to confirm your reservation.

Step 1: A reservation down payment of $100 per block of time must be paid at the time of booking by calling or coming in to the Facility Reservation Office. The Rules and Use Agreement will mailed/given or faxed to you with your reservation confirmation form. You will need to sign and return it as part of the next step.
Step 2: Within 24 hours to two weeks of your initial payment you will need to meet with the Facility Operation Staff, in person, at the Brazilian Room Office to receive your packet and return your original signed Rules and Use Agreement. Call for an appointment at 510-841-1244 or drop by during Open House.

Driving Directions

The Fern Cottage (Building) is located in Kennedy Grove Regional Recreation Area, on San Pablo Dam Road.

Please note that during the two-year project on San Pablo Reservoir, you must use an alternative entrance on weekdays. Driving Directions to Kennedy Grove on weekdays.

By car, on weekends only (see above for weekday directions)

From Highway 80:
- Take San Pablo Dam Road exit
- Turn south on San Pablo Dam Road
- Proceed about one-quarter mile south of Castro Ranch Road, through El Sobrante to the Kennedy Grove entrance (on the left)
From Highway 24:
- Take the Orinda exit
- Turn north on Camino Pablo, which becomes San Pablo Dam Road
- Drive past the San Pablo Dam Recreation Area entrance
- Drive about one mile to the Kennedy Grove park entrance (on the right).

Parking

There is a charge of $5.00 per car April through October (fees subject to change). Call the Kennedy Grove Supervisor if you want to make special arrangements for paying one sum, a voucher will be included in your rental packet. The Park Supervisor's number is 510-223-7840.
